So I’ve realized that the content I’ve been posting lately isn’t relevant to photography or videography but in my defense, I f*cking LOVE Apple Products! So with that said, I apologize if my website’s URL is misleading. Truth is, I find all tech news interesting especially anything that has to do with Apple so I will continue posting information on certain Apple news and products.
Now to the part where I review something.
Today I have the Yongnuo 2.4GHz RF-603C Wireless Flash Trigger/ Synchronized shutter release remote control.
When you first open the box you get two transceivers, the remote control cable and the manual- which is horribly translated into English.
The main purpose of these transceivers is to use an off-camera flash, speedlight, or strobes wirelessly. This is a very affordable solution for anyone who is in the market for these kind of transmitters and even though they don’t completely compare to a PocketWizard, I still think it’s a very good alternative.
Apart from being wireless flash transmitters, these bad boys can also be used as a wireless shutter trigger remote control. This particular model works with Canon DSLRs but if you’re looking to get something compatible with Nikons, look for the RF-603N models. These devices are powered with 4x AAA batteries (2 each). Both transceivers are identical. Both have hotshoe connections, on/off switches, and both have trigger buttons.
Both transceivers also have a small hole on the side to connect the Shutter cables.
Since both devices are identical either one can be attached to the camera while the other one is used as the Remote control. The device connects to the cameras hotshoe and using the included shutter trigger cable it connects to the available Remote control input on the side of the camera.
When both transceivers are powered on you will see a green light on each device which indicate that the devices are synchronized and ready for use.
The trigger button works just like the one on your camera, you press it once to focus, once focused you press down again and the shutter is released to capture the image. You will see two green lights on the device that is being used as the remote which indicates that an image was taken. On the device that is attached to your camera, you will also see two green lights but one will turn red while the shutter is open.
This is all the information I have for now and I will demonstrate the use of an off-camera flash with these devices once it comes in from Amazon.
